Our engineer then looks at your villa or apartment, and you usually get a written quote within 2 days of the visit. Every project starts this way. That includes a new build, a renovation, an apartment you have just moved into and a system that has stopped working properly. Once our engineer has seen your home, they can tell you what to do next. ## How do I book a visit? Booking takes a few minutes. Give us your contact details and tell us a little about your home. - Call or WhatsApp +971 4 458 2205, or email hello@avariohome.com, with a few lines about your home. - Our team gets in touch the next business day to agree a time for the visit. - Our engineer walks through your home and checks what is already there. - You get a written quote, usually within 2 days of the visit. ## What should I tell you? A few lines are enough. The more our engineer knows before the visit, the more useful the visit will be. If you have floor plans or drawings, say so, and our engineer will ask to see them. - The type of home and roughly how many rooms it has. - Whether it is a new build, a renovation or a finished home you already live in. - What you want to control first, for example lighting, AC, curtains and blinds, security or Wi-Fi. - Any equipment already fitted, with the brand if you know it. - Your privacy preferences, for example if you want everything to run in your home rather than in the cloud. - Your timing, such as a handover date or the start date of a renovation. ## What does our engineer check on the visit? Our engineer starts with how you live in the home and what you want the system to do. Then they check what the home already has, which usually means the wiring, the AC units, the data points in the walls and the Wi-Fi. We analyse your Wi-Fi in full with UniFi tools, so your quote also covers the network the system will depend on. Most UAE apartments, even older ones, have data points in the walls. In most homes we can reuse that cable for wall-mounted Wi-Fi access points and avoid running new cable. Use the visit to ask questions. Our own team does all the programming and commissioning (setting up and testing the system), so you are talking to the people who will set it up. ## What if you already have a smart system? If another company installed your system and something has gone wrong, call us. We always do a health check before fixing anything. That covers a check of the system, an analysis of how it is running, a thermal check with a FLIR camera to find hot spots in electrical equipment, and a map of your Wi-Fi signal. A common problem with older systems is a missing configuration file, the file that holds all the system's settings. Without it, nobody can change or upgrade the system. If the home you are buying already has a smart system, we can inspect it before you complete the purchase. That tells you what works and what needs attention before you commit. If you are collecting a new home, our engineer can join your handover or snagging inspection, the check for defects before you accept the home. They will check the smart home points, AC, data points and curtain boxes on the day. Mention your handover date when you book. ## Planning a new build or a major renovation? Book the survey before the walls are closed, because a wired system needs its cables in place early. If you are building your own villa, the best time to contact us is the preliminary design stage. For new villas of three bedrooms or more, we recommend wired KNX, an international wiring standard for home control. Avario is a registered KNX Partner. On a new build, your MEP contractor (the mechanical, electrical and plumbing team) can run the cable, or our team can. In an apartment that is not already KNX-ready, the best time to fit KNX is during a major renovation. If you do not want to open up walls, a wireless system is usually simpler. In the UAE we use Zigbee, a wireless standard for smart devices, and installation usually takes a couple of days. Wired work follows the build or the renovation. Your quote is based on what our engineer sees in your home and what you ask for. That is why we price after the visit and not before.
