Ask us for our smart home brochure and we will send it to you. Call or WhatsApp +971 4 458 2205, or email hello@avariohome.com. It covers the services and packages we offer for villas and apartments in Dubai. You can keep it to read later or pass it on.
Once you have the file, you can share it with your family, your interior designer or your contractor. If you work with a designer, send it to them early. That leaves time to plan where the keypads and cables go.
The brochure gives you an overview, but it can't tell you what your own home needs. Below are the basics to know before you read it, and what to do afterwards.
What does the brochure cover?
The brochure explains how we design, install and maintain smart home systems for villas and apartments. It covers both wired and wireless systems.
Many homes start with lighting, AC, and curtains and blinds. This is the full list of what we design, fit and look after:
- Lighting control, plus lighting design with local lighting specialists
- AC control for all AC brands and types
- Energy monitoring that you can view in the app, on a tablet or on your own computer
- Motorised curtains and blinds, wired or wireless, with motors from Somfy, Aqara and others
- Cameras and intercoms on Ubiquiti UniFi Protect and Akuvox
- Smart door locks from Oji, Tedee, Yale and Aqara
- Home Wi-Fi networks built on Ubiquiti UniFi
- Home cinema and multi-room audio, including Sonos, Bang & Olufsen and Denon
- Water leak detection, from simple alarms to automatic valve shut-off
- Irrigation control with Rain Bird and Hunter
- Pool and garden lighting control, including Soliara pool lights
- Indoor air quality sensors, linked to fresh air units, dehumidifiers and purifiers
What is a smart home, in plain terms?
A smart home lets you control your lighting, AC, curtains and other systems from one place. You can use the keypads on the wall, the app on your phone, or schedules that run on their own.
Behind it sits the hub, the small box that runs your system. Ours is Symphony, Avario's own automation platform. We designed it to make large, complex homes easier to manage.
You also choose what goes on the wall. We have products from 18 high-end suppliers, so you get a real choice of switches and keypads.
Symphony also makes the different parts of your home work together. A few examples:
- It can start cooling a room before you get home
- When you open the front door with your smart lock, it can switch on the lights and set the AC to your chosen temperature
- Your blinds can open and close at sunrise and sunset
- Your lighting can change from cooler to warmer light through the day
- Our jet lag recovery mode plans your lighting to help you adjust after flying across time zones
Wired or wireless: which suits your home?
Wired KNX suits new builds and major renovations. Wireless suits finished homes where you don't want to cut into walls.
KNX is a wiring standard for home automation. The cables go in before the walls are closed, so the work happens as part of the build. We are a registered KNX Partner, and we recommend KNX for new villas, including three-bedroom builds. Our team can run the cable, or we can work with your MEP team (the contractor for mechanical, electrical and plumbing work).
Wireless systems use radio signals instead of cables. In the UAE, we recommend Zigbee, a radio standard for smart devices. A wireless installation usually takes a couple of days. Our guide to wireless smart homes in Dubai explains when wireless works well and when it's better to wire.
If your apartment isn't already wired for KNX, the best time to add a wired system is during a major renovation. For more on the wired option, read KNX automation in Dubai.
Cloud or local: does it work without the internet?
Yes. Our systems run inside your home, so you don't need the internet to control the house. If the internet drops but your home Wi-Fi still works, you can keep using the app while you're at home. If the home network itself goes down, the keypads still work.
A few features do need the internet. While the connection is down, you can't open a smart lock remotely. The keypad and fingerprint reader on the door carry on working, and the irrigation schedules, blind schedules and hub all keep running.
Camera recordings are saved in your home, and cloud backup is optional. You stay in control of the footage. Our guide to privacy and offline control explains this in more detail.
For interior designers and architects
We fit in with you and the suppliers you already work with. If a client has sent you this brochure, this is how we work with designers.
We provide lighting design with local lighting specialists. We can supply the light fittings, or work with your client's lighting contractor.
We also work alongside curtain suppliers. We bring switch and keypad samples to you, so you and your client can see the finishes in person.
When you sign a partnership agreement, we give you the details of our partner programme. To start, read about our partner programme for interior designers and architects.
For contractors, builders and developers
Bring us in as early as you can. We work from your drawings, and we can sign a contract with the main contractor, the developer or the end client.
On wired jobs, our team is on site during the first wiring stage. We check the contractor's cabling every two days. Our own team does all the programming and commissioning, which means setting up and testing the system.
For property developers, we offer Keystone, a home automation service designed specifically for developers. To talk about a project, call our main number: +971 4 458 2205.
What a brochure can't tell you
The brochure can't tell you what your home needs or what it will cost. The cost depends on:
If you have floor plans or drawings, we can send you a rough budget estimate before anyone visits. This helps if you're buying off-plan (before the home is built).
If you message or email us, our team contacts you on the next business day. Our engineer visits and checks your home, your wiring and your AC units. Your written quote usually arrives two days after the visit.
- The size of your home
- Whether you choose wired or wireless
- Whether it's a new build or a retrofit (adding a system to a finished home)
- The brands you choose
- How much of your home you want to control
Questions people ask
How do I get the brochure? Ask us by phone, WhatsApp or email, and we will send it to you.
Can I share the brochure? Yes. You can read it later or pass it on to your family, your designer or your contractor.
Where can I learn more before a home visit? Our Smart Home Academy course at thesmarthome.academy covers the basics. It includes a section on wireless systems.
Can you look after a system another company installed? Yes. We always start with a health check. If the passwords or configuration file (the file that holds your system's settings) are missing, we rebuild the configuration and you always get a copy.
Your next step
Read the brochure and note what matters most to you. Then book a home visit or engineering survey. Our engineer will check your home, and we'll send you a written quote.
