We handle smart home maintenance in Dubai, from one-off repairs to ongoing plans, and we also work on systems that other companies installed. Most calls are about voice assistants that stop responding, scenes or app buttons that do nothing, and camera feeds that freeze or go blank.

To report a fault, use the support chat in the Avario app or call us. We complete 90% of our support remotely, so most fixes don't need anyone to come to your home.

You can also have us look after your system on a maintenance plan, so you don't have to wait for something to break before you call. We build each plan around your home.

Which faults do we fix?

We fix faults anywhere in the system, from the keypads on your walls to the hub (the small box that runs your system). These are the faults people call us about most.

  • Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple Siri stops responding or says a device is offline. We check the link between the assistant, your Wi-Fi and the hub.
  • Scenes fail or run the wrong thing. A scene is one button that sets several things at once, such as dimming the lights and closing the curtains.
  • App buttons stop controlling the lighting, AC, curtains or blinds.
  • Camera feeds freeze, lag or go blank. We check the cameras, the recorder in your home and the network they share.
  • Keypads and switches stop responding.
  • Wi-Fi dead spots make devices keep dropping off.
  • Smart locks have low batteries, out-of-date firmware (the software inside the lock) or old user codes.
  • Leak and motion sensors have flat batteries or a weak wireless signal.

Can you fix a system another company installed?

Yes. We are an automation engineering team and can work on any system, though we tend to stick to KNX (the wiring standard most wired systems use) and other standardised systems. On any system another company installed, we always start with a health check.

With older systems, the most common problem is missing passwords or a missing configuration file (the file that holds all the system's settings). Without these, nobody can change or upgrade the system. We rebuild the configuration from scratch, and you always keep a copy.

Sometimes a wired system has no project file and the original installer has gone. In that case we rebuild the system and replace the hub with Symphony, our own automation platform, built to make large, complex homes easier to manage. You decide if your existing keypads and switches stay. Our guide to taking over a system from another installer explains the process.

When we take over a home, we remove old users, reset logins and write up the system records. You also get drawings, a wiring schedule and a short training session for your household. If you are buying a home that already has a system, we can inspect it before you complete. See what to check when you buy or move in.

How does a repair work?

You tell us what has gone wrong and we look at it remotely first. Our engineer only visits if the fault needs someone on site. All programming and commissioning (setting the system up and testing it) is done by our own team, and our engineers are KNX certified.

  • Tell us about the fault. If you have the Avario app, use the support chat inside it. If another company installed your system and you don't have the app, call us on +971 4 458 2205.
  • If another company installed your system, we start with a health check. That way we know what we are working with before we change anything.
  • We check remotely. You approve each remote session, and you can switch remote access off completely at any time.
  • We visit if needed. During business hours (Monday to Saturday, 8am to 7pm) we reply in the chat straight away, and call-outs are within 4 hours.
  • We fix the fault and update your records, so you always have a current copy of your system's settings.

What does a health check include?

A health check shows you what state your system is in before anything else goes wrong. We always do one before working on a system another company installed. It is also worth doing if small faults keep coming back.

  • A full check of the system, plus an analysis of how it is running.
  • A thermal scan with a FLIR camera, which shows hot spots you can't see with the naked eye.
  • A map of your Wi-Fi signal, made with UniFi tools, showing where coverage is weak.

What does a maintenance plan cover?

We don't sell fixed plan levels. We build each plan around the equipment in your home and the parts you want us to look after.

On the systems we look after, the app runs a watchdog, a built-in check that everything is working as it should. For example, it warns you when a leak sensor's battery is low or the sensor loses its signal.

A plan can include any of the items below. If Wi-Fi is your weak point, our guide to planning Wi-Fi for villas and apartments explains how we design networks.

  • Network monitoring and updates.
  • Smart lock checks: batteries, firmware updates and user codes.
  • Leak sensor checks and battery replacement.
  • Irrigation controller and sensor checks, including flow meters and soil sensors.
  • Cinema and multi-room audio: software updates, speaker checks and re-tuning the sound after changes to the room.

What is covered by warranty?

Warranties on the equipment itself come from the manufacturers.

If a device fails while it is still under the manufacturer's warranty, we can help you work out the cause. It could be a setup fault we can fix, or a hardware fault for the manufacturer.

When are we not the right call?

Some problems are outside the smart home. If the AC unit itself is not cooling or is leaking, you need an AC technician. We can advise you or put you in touch with an AC maintenance partner.

Most intercoms built into apartment buildings can't be connected to a third-party system, because doing so would void their warranty. If your lobby intercom has a fault, your building's own provider usually needs to fix it.

If you only have one or two plug-in gadgets from a DIY kit, the maker's app and support may be all you need. We are most useful when several rooms, devices or systems need to work together.

What affects the cost of a repair or plan?

It depends on your system and how much of it we look after. Our engineer can tell you more once they have seen your home, and our guide to what affects smart home costs in Dubai explains the main factors.

  • The size of your home and how many devices it has.
  • Whether the system is wired (KNX) or wireless.
  • Whether the configuration file and passwords exist, or the system needs rebuilding.
  • The brands installed.
  • How much of the home is controlled: lighting, AC, curtains, cameras, locks, audio and so on.

Questions people ask

Can you fix faults without visiting? Usually, yes. We complete 90% of our support remotely, and only after you approve each session.

What happens if the internet goes down? As long as your home Wi-Fi is working, the app still controls your home from inside it, and the keypads always work. Locks keep working with their keypad or fingerprint reader, but you can't unlock them remotely until the internet is back.

Do I get my system files? Yes. We hand over the ETS project file (the file KNX systems are programmed from) and the passwords as standard. You also keep a copy of any configuration we rebuild.

Do you fix systems other companies installed? Yes. We start with a health check and then fix the fault. Call us on +971 4 458 2205 and tell us what you have.

Book a repair visit

If something has stopped working, message us in the app chat or call +971 4 458 2205. If you want our engineer to check the whole system, book a home visit or engineering survey and tell us about the fault. Our team will contact you the next business day to arrange the visit, and you usually get a written quote 2 days after it.
